Having Zebra Finches as Pets

Shannon Frye
There are many different varieties of finches. One type of fish which is very common is known as the Zebra Finch. This is because finches are very easy to take care of and keep alive. They are not large birds and they wont require a terribly large bird cage like your average Macaw would. You can purchase a little cage and the finch will do very well. If you are thinking about getting a bird but you want a small bird, I would suggest buying a Zebra Finch. They are not very loud and they will not keep you up at night or bother you through out the day.

A lot of people love finches but they either do not know that you can keep them as pets or they think that they are too hard to care for and keep alive. Most species of the finch are hard to keep alive. The Zebra Finch is a wonderful choice for something who is just starting out and wants a pet bird. These birds are one of the easiest to care for and great for a beginner, versus some species of the finch which are very difficult to take care of. If you want a finch which is easy to care for the Zebra Finch is your best choice.

Zebra Finches are very small birds which are very active. They are very entertaining and not like your average bird that doesn't move around a whole lot. Most bigger birds will make very loud noises that begin to hurt your ears after a short period of time. With the Zebra Finch you will be able to tolerate their noises. They do not screech and they make only little chirping noises which are very soft. You will not get woke up in the middle of the night listening to the bird screeching when it should be sleeping.

While these birds are great to watch they will not really bond with the owner like other types of birds will. These birds are more for watching and you really don't and can't handle the Zebra Finch unless you spend a lot of time with the bird. It's best to keep these birds in pairs or groups. They do very well in groups. The problem with this is the fact that these birds will have babies and lay eggs. This is one type of bird which you will want to purchase only males or only females and not a pair of them, unless you want baby birds.
