On Wednesday, January 26 it was announced via the media Sean Combs, or better known as "Puff Daddy" and later "P Diddy" amongst his many monikers, will guest star on the mega-hit classic, TV crime series drama "Hawaii Five-0." However, according to devoted fans of the show they're not too happy regarding this latest casting news. The ones living in Hawaii where all of the filming takes place feels there is plenty of local Hawaiian talent rather than hire another rap singer turned actor from the mainland.

Not long after the news was announced CBS's message board and social networking stalwart, Facebook, were ablaze with fan's thoughts on what they felt was purely stunt casting. Some of the comments ranged from: "this will start driving people away", "don't know if I'd buy him as a cop", "seriously...P. Diddy??? Is there no one else who could play this role?", "can't they find any bankable actors?" and "Why??? You need more locals" were the common themes.

It is to Sean Combs' credit he has acted in a number of films, comedy and drama that received critical acclaim. He appeared opposite Halle Berry in the indie film "Monster's Ball." Berry received an Oscar for her role. Sean Combs was nominated for an Emmy in the classic play "A Raisin in the Sun." Most recently he was in the film comedy "Get Him to the Greek." For his upcoming role as a New York Police Department detective in Honolulu looking for his family's murderers he will be training in weapons instruction as well as with a Navy S.E.A.L.

Many actors and singers have made guest appearances on "Hawaii Five-0" with little to no controversy at all. Some have been featured in one to two brief scenes while others had bigger roles. There have also been announcements of other future guests stars such as Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo, Michela McManus (formerly on Law & Order: SVU) and most recently seen was Jo Jo. She had a small role from the special Sunday episode regarding a tsunami. However, Sean Combs has gotten favorable comments too from H50 fans on his soon-to-be spring appearance, likely during the May Sweeps: "Everyone wants to be on a winning show!", "Fascinating, I will watch no matter who's the guest star" and "Don't really care, just want to see Alex. He is so hot."
