HawthoRNe - TNT's Answer for Grey's Anatomy Fans

As a HUGE Grey's Anatomy fan I find myself drawn to series such as Private Practice, NBC's new Mercy launching this fall, and of course NBC's ER. What I didn't expect was to discover such a find on TNT. Jada Pinkett Smith is a huge star and to do TV for her could either be a hit or disaster. I'm happy to report she gives a commanding performance in the new series HawthoRNe with a fabulous cast containing some of my favorite actors like Michael Vartan (Alias) and Suleka Mathew (Men in Trees), which come from old time favorite shows of mine as well. Put these characters together on screen and the chemistry is incredible. I love the potential love story between Smith and Vartan and can't wait to see what Season 2 brings us. Jada's daughter on the show Camille, played by Hannah Hodson is the bratty teenager that many of us deal with. She's unappreciative, strong headed, and well, a lot like her mother.

Where shows like Grey's Anatomy give you the view of the doctor, HawthoRNe (obviously from the title) focuses on the ER experience from the nurses' point of view. Hospital politics, doctors without any bedside manner and every day drama is perfectly portrayed in this irreverent and reality driven series. Jada is absolutely flawless and her compassion and handling of moral dilemmas is really refreshing. I love to see her go up against administration, doctors, and of course the difficult patients that need her "special" touch. As Christina Hawthorne, Jada wields her power as the chief nurse for Richmond Trinity Hospital. She is strong, beautiful, and a crack up. I completely enjoy watching HawthoRNe and make sure that anytime I miss a Tuesday night I catch it On Demand through my local cable company. You can also watch full episodes on TNT's website which is perfect for late night viewing in bed. As the website explains; "whether she's showing humanity to a homeless woman, trying to talk a suicidal cancer patient off a ledge or exposing a doctor's near-fatal error, Hawthorne will do everything in her power to help her patients. When a patient's care is at risk, she doesn't hesitate to violate protocol, defend her staff or stand up to administrators who seem to have forgotten a hospital's true purpose."

For an intense, drama laden series showcasing a woman with strength and a nurse's viewpoint, HawthoRNehits the trifecta.
