Hayden Kho Loses His Medical License

Would Losing His License Change His Morality?

Hayden Kho is the Filipino cosmetic surgeon who was connected to the Belo Medical Group in the past, both professionally with the clinic and personally with its famous owner, Dr. Vicki Belo.

This year, Hayden Kho, along with sexy actress Katrina Halili, Dr. Belo, and another medical doctor turned commercial model and then actress, Maricar Reyes, hogged the headlines because of several sex scandal videos that turned up in the internet and among pirated videos all over the country and even in some areas of the world (now they are world famous).

Eventually, there came a Senate inquiry where Sen. Bong Revilla lashed at Hayden Kho and berated him like he was a dog. Then somebody (I forgot the name) doused water on Hayden Kho during the preliminary hearing. Hayden was suspended by the Philippine Medical Association. And the most recent news is, Hayden Kho lost his license, after a vengeful Katrina Halili pursued the case in court.

Now, let me get this straight, lest I might be misconstrued. I am in no way taking for granted what the former Dr. Hayden Kho had done. I am no fan either.

It is just that, I think that revoking his license as a medical practitioner is not the punishment that is befitting for his voyeurism. I believe that the videos that Hayden took of his love sessions were in no way violating the profession he has sworn to serve. After all, it was his sex life that he revealed--not anything related to his patients. If ever, the doctors in Cebu that mocked their patient and posted the video of his operation on YouTube--those are the ones whose licenses deserved to be revoked. Not Hayden.

Okay, granting that nobody would want to be taken care of by Hayden. Well, that is the consequence of his actions and should be punishment enough.

Alright, Hayden may have been immoral, but whoever has not sinned among doctors? Is Hayden the only immoral doctor, and in this case, is there nobody in the Philippine Senate that has not engaged in sexual immorality and adultery?

There is no law covering such act. If this is a precedence, a law should be passed and implemented. Otherwise, his license should not be revoked.

Oh well, it is done. Now, the title Dr. will no longer be appended to Hayden Kho's name.
