Haze Review (PS3)

S.R.
Haze is a first person shooting game released for Playstation 3 and developed by Free Radical Design. Yet another first person shooter game for Playstation 3. If you're somehow in the market for another one, I'm here to review this for you. Let's take a look.

Story : I have to say, that everything in this department falls neatly in the middle. The story isn't bad per se, but it's not very good either.

Graphics : I can't say many good things about the graphics, but I wouldn't say they ruin the game either. There's a nice effort here, but honestly this stuff looks something out of an early Playstation 2 title. You read that right, Playstation 2. At least there isn't any slowdown or graphical glitches, which is fairly important. Graphically, this game is mediocre at best.

Sound : The voice acting in this game is really horrible and the enemies shout the most annoying, moronic stuff. For me the voices make the game nearly unplayable, and I had the game on mute for the most part. Because of this absurdity, I can't really comment on the music or the sound effects. Sorry.

Game play : Haze, honestly, does not bring anything new to the table and that's a shame. There's a ton of first person shooter games out there, and to be competitive you have to really offer something no other first person shooter game can. To be fair though, Haze did totally and completely master the basics. The controls, an important aspect of any game, are crisp, responsive, and tight while also being sensitive. The game is just slightly different from other first person shooters in that not much strategy is involved. For the most of the game you can just run through everything guns blazing. I know many people will like that, so if you're into that take a look. The difficulty of this game is not very high at all, and most of the enemies basically just stand there waiting to be shot. The game is really fun, just not challenging at all.

Re playability : The multi player is on par or worse with basically any other multi player game out there. To put it simply, there's better games to play if you want multi-player style fun.

Overall : 5/10. A distinctly average first person shooter, lost amongst the sea of other first person shooters on PS3. Play this if you like mindless fun and not much else.
