HBO Film The Black List: Volume 3 a Portrait of Iconic African Americans

HBO is broadcasting a documentary about iconic African - Americans in 'The Black List' a film that features portraits of well known personalities including Whoopi Goldberg, Lee Daniels, John Legend , Debra L. Lee, Dr. Michael Lomax, Hill Harper, LaTanya Richardson and Beverly Johnson. 'The Black List' premieres on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 8:30 PM ET/PT and will be rebroadcast on HBO.

This is the third installment of 'The Black List,' which is a collaboration between Timothy Greenfield - Sanders and Elvis Mitchell. Timothy Greenfield - Sanders is a filmmaker and portrait photographer. Elvis Mitchell is an award - winning journalist. In 'The Black List' Mitchell interviews the people he is profiling from off camera, so that the focus is on the person being interviewed.

The subjects of the 'The Black List' are well known personalities who have helped to shape the American culture in their own arenas. The people being profiled are artists, educators and professionals who have worked their way into the top of their professions and who have seen change in their lifetimes.

The personalities being interviewed in the third installment of 'The Black List' include: Lee Daniels (Director/Producer of Precious), Whoopi Goldberg (Oscar winning actress and TV Host on The View), Hill Harper (actor), Beverly Johnson (model), Debra L. Lee (BET CEO), John Legend (Grammy winning singer & songwriter), Dr. Michael Lomax (President of the United Negro College Fund) and LaTanya Richardson (actress).

'The Black List' offers a portrait of these iconic African Americans with topics ranging from childhood inspirations, how their ambitions were shaped, the changing landscape of America, racial identity and preserving cultural identity for future generations.

The first and second volumes of 'The Black List,' which are available on DVD; include interviews with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Majora Carter, Sean Combs, Angela Davis, Suzanne de Passe, Laurence Fishburne, Thelma Golden, Lou Gossett Jr., Barbara Harris, T.D. Jakes, Bill T. Jones, Vernon Jordan, Marc Morial, Toni Morrison, Suzan-Lori Parks, Richard Parsons, Deval Patrick, Tyler Perry, Charley Pride, Susan Rice, Valerie Montgomery Rice, Patrick Robinson, Chris Rock, Maya Rudolph, Rza, Al Sharpton, Lorna Simpson, Slash, Melvin Van Peebles, Kara Walker, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Serena Williams and Zane.
