HBO True Blood Rolling Stone Cover Both Hot, Gory
Sookie, Bill, and Eric Featured on Rolling Stone Cover, Naked, Covered in Blood
Actors Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgard and actress Anna Paquin all grace the cover, nude from the waist up, covered in "blood."
If you watch the show, you know that there is plenty of blood. Anna Paquin's character Sookie Stackhouse was recently ravaged by Stephen Moyer's character Bill Compton as he was starving. She almost died, but didn't - and that's when we realize what we knew all along: there's something different about Sookie.
You also know there's plenty of sex in the show. Of course, where there's vampires there's sex and sensuality and that's just how it is.
The cover of Rolling Stone depicts the essence of HBO's hit series. You have Sookie, Bill, and Eric - an odd sort of love triangle. Oh come on, admit it - Sookie and Eric have chemistry too, although she does truly love Bill (who is played by Stephen Moyer - her real-life husband.)
Moyer has an odd way of putting the sexy nature of vampires. Per E! He says "If we go from a base level, vampires create a hole in the neck where there wasn't one before. It's a de-virginization-breaking the hymen, creating blood and then drinking the virginal blood. And there's something sharp, the fang, which is probing and penetrating and moving into it. So that's pretty sexy. I think that makes vampires attractive."
I never thought of it that way before, but I guess it's one way of looking at the sensual nature of the show.
As for the very graphic nature of the show, the maker of the show doesn't care about high school students because he finds them irritating and uninformed. Therefore, he doesn't care that the extra sex in the show may keep some parents from letting their kids watch the show.
There's one aspect of the cover that everyone is talking about - the sex. As pointed out, it goes hand in hand with Vampires. However, some would venture to argue that Twilight doesn't have too much sex in it - but there I would disagree. If you read the actual series, there is a lot more sexual tension and depiction than is shown on the big screen. The birth scene of Edward and Bella's baby and the subsequent relationship and urges that Jacob feels for the child are very sexual and sensual in nature.
So, Vampires are hot and gory - and the Rolling Stone cover depicted that perfectly.

Post a CommentI haven't seen this show, since I don't get HBO, but I've been told it attracts viewers you wouldn't think would be caught -- well-- dead watching it. Interesting piece, thanks! -- Susan Hamlin
