HBO's Series Entourage is Depressing!

Why I Love to Hate Entourage

Entourage is an HBO show about young actor named Vincent Chase who moves to Hollywood with his three best friends and becomes a huge movie star. The show is produced by Mark Wahlberg, and stars Jeremy Piven and Adrian Grenier. The basic premise behind the show is that Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) gets paid millions of dollars to star in movies, and subsequently pays his three best friends to be his manger, chef, and driver (in that order).

I watch this show religiously, but I hate it! Every time I watch Entourage, I feel a little bit worse about my own life. It is a slap-in-the-face reminder that I am poor and haven't achieved any amount of success in my life. Every episode is about how awesome it would be to have millions of dollars and be super famous. The main character, Vincent Chase never worries about anything, has tons of casual sex with beautiful women, and spends most of his free time getting stoned; While his friends; Eric, Johnny, and Turtle just tag along for the ride and mooch off all of his cash.

It's bad enough that there are already shows, like "Cribs" and "The Fabulous Life of...," which merely flaunt how much money famous people have, but now a network has to go and create a fictitious show about a fictitious movie star who is richer than any poor shmuck could ever dream of being. Even when there is "drama" in this show, it's petty, stupid drama that most people wish they had in their lives. Stuff, like "My wife won't let me use my cell phone because it's a holiday!" or "What am I going to do about my relationship with Mandy Moore?" or "Try not to have sex with your new, beautiful, female agent." or "We bought a 4 million dollar house, and I only made 2 million off my latest movie... but it's cool because I'm going to get $500,000 to shoot a TV commercial tomorrow." Give me a break! I wish I had problems like that!

Nevertheless, I can't deny the fact that I love watching this show. Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) is hilarious, and the other characters are endearing, as well. Every time I watch it, I think about how great it would be to have that kind of life. The kind of life where nothing really matters because you're so rich that even if you foolishly lost all of your money, you could just sell everything you own for millions of dollars, and then you would be filthy rich again, so piss on everyone else. Although, as soon as each episode of Entourage is over, the fantasy is quickly destroyed by the harsh reality that is my life, and I'm depressed again.

Entourage airs Sundays on HBO. If you feel like you need a reason to be depressed, I highly suggest watching this show.

  • Entourage is about a rich and famous movie star.
  • His life is awesome.
  • Your life is not as awesome.
Jeremy Piven's first role was in a 1986 film called Lucas.

This show is sexist and rude, it's one of the reasons the world and the people in it are the way they are, so many more sickos etc because we are told this is okay. Pretty much a series about being as disrespectful as you can to women and covering it with a shitty story line which gets maybe a few minutes of the show. Disgusting.
