HD DVD is Not "Dead Technology"

Shelling Out Too Much Cash for Blu-ray Movies? Read This!

It's been months and months since the war between HD DVD and Blu-ray was considered to be over. However, I would like to bring a few things to your attention.

Let's face facts, right now blu-ray discs are expensive (just as DVD was compared to VHS upon its release). Many of you may have an XBOX 360. Many of you may be like me and have an HD DVD/Blu-ray combo player (I have the LG Super Blu and highly recommend it.)

If you have an XBOX 360 you can get the HD DVD add on extremely cheap from sites such as ebay and amazon.com. Most HD DVD's can also be purchased from these sites for as little as $1-$2.00 each.

Extending your high definition experience doesn't mean you have to break your bank account. Many of the titles you can buy on blu-ray have been available on HD DVD much longer, and you can still buy them off of ebay and amazon.com very cheaply.

If you already have an XBOX 360 or a HD DVD/Blu-ray combo player I recommend you go to ebay or amazon and buy large lots of HD DVD's. Keep the ones you want and take the rest and throw them back up for auction. I have done this several times building my HD DVD collection to well over 100 and have not lost a penny, I've rather made a small profit selling the HD DVD's I'm not interested in watching.

If i wanted to to extend my Blu-ray collection by another 100 titles, it would costs me thousands of dollars.

If you don't have an HD DVD player, you can easily obtain one from several websites. If you have an XBOX 360, you can generally find the add on from ebay or amazon extremely cheap. If you already have a Blu-ray player, you could just consider buying a HD DVD player (which are running extremely cheap) or consider a combo player like I have and sell your existing Blu-ray player.

Another great source for HD DVD players and HD DVD/Blu-ray combo players is to check outlet centers. I purchased mine from the Best Buy outlet center and also got an excellent warranty..

One final piece of advice: read consumer reviews and specifications before buying any HD DVD player. Make sure it's 1080p and has an HDMI port.
