He is Gone! Michael Jackson is Dead After Cardiac Arrest

This is an update on a previous article reporting that Michael Jackson was hospitalized at UCLA Medical Center after suffering a cardiac arrest. The update is that the King of pop has given up the ghost. According to K-CAL 9 news, Michael was pronounced dead shortly after he was brought into UCLA hospital. He had apparently had no pulse after suffering this heart attack, and paramedics could not revive him.

This is the saddest day in Arts and Entertainment, as Michael has now followed beloved Farrah Fawcett who also passed away this morning after nearly three years of battle with anal cancer.

It is so sad that this happened at this time. Yes, I know we are all mortal and bound to depart some day. But for someone like Michael Jackson, whose music transcends race, color, gender, and generations worldwide, and who had been trying to revive his career with a London tour after years of obstacles, it is particulary sad.

In life, Jackson had been a philantropist, giving millions in fundraising and personal earnings to help "heal the world" of poverty, illness and diseases, hunger, you name it. His "we are the world" work with Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie, Diana Ross, and all those noted celebrities in the 1980s will always be something to remember. His effort to help under-priviledged people of Africa and the globe is always something I admire.
