~He Qualified for a Leave~

He Went on Leave

Stephanie R. Barry

My man had seem to become bored with me,

Wanted to go out all the time, became figidity,

He was always out with his boys real late,

But soon came the answer,

He sealed his fate.

He was very impatient, fussy and mean,

Yes I thought it was my fault,

What was wrong with me?

He came home one night,

And as he walked through the door,

I could tell he and I would be no more.

He had slept with her,

And that qualified him for a leave,

He had a familiar scent on him and it wasn't me.

He thought if he'd be absent,

For just a little while,

I wouldn't know,

He had been doing something foul.

But I smelled her as soon as,

He walked through the door,

I knew at that moment,

Loved lived here no more.

He had been engraved by her touch,

Lord, this man I love so much,

But now he is qualified for a leave,

It could be a month, year, or forever,

I contemplate if I can forgive and stay together.

No sympathy for me please,

I'll just get down on my knees.

Ask God for the man,

Heaven sent for me.

I'll wait as long as I have to,

To God I will cleave,

So no other man,

Will qualify for a leave.
