He is the Ultimate Father

Jill Davidson
I was frozen in panic. My young son, who could not swim, had slipped off the edge of the dock into the green water. I could not see him. Should I jump in? Would he come up underneath the dock? The water was very close to the bottom edge. After what seemed an eternity, but was only a few seconds, I saw two small outstretched hands rising toward the surface. I grabbed my son by both wrists and pulled him straight up out of the water onto the dock. We both shivered with relief, and fear for what might have happened. How much more does God love us than we love our children? We should come to Him when we are in a situation out of our control, with our arms outstretched, trusting Him completely to pull us to safety. How much more will He be relieved when we are safely in His arms!

I tried to pump up the PVs for this in my new "PV Poison" article. Hope I was able to help a little bit. Thanks for sharing this story. :)

It's a shame that it takes scary moments like this one for God to get our attention, but then, the stakes are pretty high where He is concerned, so He will get pretty dramatic if He needs to. Hopefully, after an experience like you had, we remember to turn to Him for help before we practically drown the next time.

This happened about 21 years ago, and we've had a few other close calls between then and now. Praise God my son is now 26 years old, with a wife and wonderful little boy of his own!
