He Washed His Disciple's Feet

Mary E. Coe

He! The greatest King
that ever lived on this earth
It was He!
Who came from heaven,
Sent by GOD above

It was He, of Galilee, Jesus of Galilee,
He took a towel, A basin of water
He washed His disciple's feet,

He! who healed the sick
and set sinners free,

It was He!
He moved mountains and
calmed the raging sea
He took a towel, a basin of water
He washed His disciple's feet,

If He!
The only Son of GOD?

If He!
who came to set men free?
He moved mountains
He calmed the seas

If He
took a towel, a basin of water
And washed, His disciple's feet?

Why can't you and I; my neighbor
Wash each others feet?

Learning from the Greatest Man that walked this earth about humility...that's a strong message you evoked!

The humility of Jesus is one of the many touching attributes that draw us to Him. May we always be willing to humble ourselves as He did! Excellent!

Beautiful poem. I always try to do for my neighbors when I can. Kindness spreads, and everyone should try to do more for each other. As I was reading this I was thinking it would be something very powerful to read to a crowd. Very meaningful words. You're a talented writer!

Good poem. Humbleness is not usually a trait that is encouraged in our competitive society. Excellent reminder.
