Head First - a Rhyme to Scare Those on a Dare

When Issued a Dare, It's Best to Beware, to Rise O'er it All and Not Take a Fall!

Linda Ann Nickerson
And in the end,
It's not the years in your life that count.
It's the life in your years.
Abraham Lincoln
(1809-1865)
16th President of the United States

I got stuck in the laundry chute,
While riding down head-first,
'Mid stinky socks and underwear;
I'm not sure which was worse!

My blood was racing from my feet;
My face was surely red.
It echoed, as I hollered there;
I feared I might be dead.

At last, my playmates rescued me.
By then, I was a wreck.
They grabbed my arms and hauled me out;
I nearly broke my neck!

Appalling what a kid may try,
Once dare has laid the bait.
Thank God I learned this lesson then,
When I was only eight.
