Head and Hair Trends for Spring 2010

Rebecca Furtado

Bob haircuts really never go out of style. A bob hair cut can really bring back to life tired overly colored and premed hair. The New Year is a perfect time to get a bob hair cut for your tired locks and give them a chance to grow in healthy.

Bob haircuts lately have been sported by Paris Hilton, Katie Holmes, and Kate Perry making it clear that Hollywood still embraces the basic bob. A retro inverted look is easily achieved on hair that tends to curl under.

Medium length and longer bobs ;that are smooth cut and not overly layered are great for girls who do not want to go short. You can add same length layers at the neck line that blow dry out nicely; to achieve height on your longer bob.

As far as chemical trends this year; straight and not overly curly means you can let go of the perm if you want to. Spiral perms are making a comeback for longer locks. More natural looking hair color with a move away from artificial looking streaking is in this spring season. Rich and not excessively light colors are in this year. The most appropriate color to make a bold statement in this spring will be in very dark brunette colors.

Many of the bobs featured in the magazines this year are great for women with straight fine hair. While the styles do not lay flat against your head, you will not need a great deal of product to give the illusion you have thick hair. The lines of the hair cut are fairly straight forward and have the appearance of being blunt cut even if layers are added for volume. This is great news for those of us with short flat fine hair. There is a chance we can retire the curling iron and get our volume from the blow dryer alone.

Red is the hot color for spring and all shades of it. The head band has made a comeback in recent years and finding a few in unique shades of red can help you really update your tee shirt and jean look. Well worn, ripped clothing is making a comeback in 2010. You can offset 'your messy look' with hair that is in a simple style with clean lines. For special occasions think about using vintage brooches in your up do instead of barrettes and hair pins.

Bright and shiny hair accessories are in this year and mixing the fancy with the faded can provide you with lots of creative ways to display your hair accessories. If you have not added a hat to your collection of accessories and you get a short bob, you may want to consider adding a hat. Short bobbed hair is easy to revive after being under a hat and you don't really have to worry so much about hat hair as you do with curlier styles.
