The Brooklyn Museum may be small in size, but has plenty to offer

I've been a huge fan of Egyptian culture ever since the third grade, when my best friend went on a trip there, took a million pictures of really cool things that he did, and came back and gave me a papier-mâché scarab that dissolved when I spilled my milk on it.

It's been my dream ever since to travel there and see the pyramids, the sphinx and all the rest of the great Egyptian artifacts. Alas, schedule, money, and most importantly, beer, have kept me from putting it all together to make the trip over the last 20 years.

But I've done my best to try and hit up museum exhibits and collections wherever I can. So I've been to the Met. But just recently, I heard about the Brooklyn Museum's (on Eastern Parkway) Ancient Egyptian Fragments and Amulets.

It's a really cool collection of Egyptian representations of various body parts. Eyes, feet and hands.

The detail and craftsmanship is typical of most Egyptian art I've seen, meaning it is essentially mind-blowing.

Some of the artifacts are thousands of years old, so it's not a simple feat to make sure that they are preserved and displayed properly.

But the assistant curator of Egyptian Art, Yekaterina Barbash, has done a marvelous job in portraying this collection of art the way it should be.

I will definitely be headed back to the Brooklyn Museum if the rest of their exhibits are this well done.
