Head to Whistler for Great Winter Fun

Whistler, British Columbia, site of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, is well known for it's amazing skiing and mountain biking at Whistler-Blackcomb. But there is a host of other activities you may want to try while visiting this great resort town. Consider adding one of the following to your list of To Do's while in Whistler.

Shopping. Stroll through the Village of Whistler and you'll be surprised at the many boutiques and art galleries you'll find. Forget that important piece of ski equipment or clothing? This is the place to go to find anything you'll need as well as that special souvenir to remember your trip. Stores include Burton Women's Store, The Olympic Store, Northface, Columbia and even an outlet store offering up to 70 percent off brand name equipment.

Dining. There are over 90 dining options in Whistler from bars to restaurants to fine dining, Whistler has it all. Try Trattoria de Umberto for a delicious Italian meal or Rim Rock for their crab and salmon cakes. For something extra special try an evening at Araxi for elegant fine dining. Feeling more adventurous? Head to the top of the mountain and take in a meal at Christine's Restaurant featuring classic dishes.

Whistler Blackcomb Tube Park. If the kids want to do something really fun, take them to Whistler Blackcomb Tube Park. Eight 1,000-foot lanes with every degree of difficulty-from beginning to advanced-make for a fun-filled adventure for children and adults. You'll have a blast as you fly down the lanes and then head back up via the conveyor lift. Prices range from $10 to $23.

Ziptrek Ecotours. Not just a winter destination, Whistler is bustling during the summer months as well. Take a thrilling ride along one of the ziplines while you take in the beautiful scenery as you glide by. Ziptrek Ecotours offers 10 ziplines as well as 2 aerial bridges. Ecotours gives visitors the opportunity to learn more about the mountain with its emphasis on being environmentally friendly. Zipline tours are also offered during the winter months as well. How about flying 60 mph through the snow-covered trees for a thrilling adventure.

So if you're planning a trip to Whistler to take in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games or just a family vacation you'll want to try some of these activities.
