Headache

ripped away
from sleep
i am pulled in two
by wanting.

my head hurts
i am empty
i am full of
cobwebs and dusty old coats
hanging somewhere
calling sullivan's name

in a dream, i saw a house
i was afraid of
and it was there
like some dead thing
brought back to life
just enough to think
but not to move

i held on
not tight enough
i let it fall

monsters on the sidewalk, chasing humans
invincible creatures chasing down the foolish mortals
you crashed our world
we burned them up
and blew away the dust
and where they stood the grass turned
black and scorched
fetid piles of ash mixed with all the words
they tried to kill us with
useless now
we were victorious.
