Heal Boils with Hydrotherapy and Herbs

According to some alternative doctors, boils are caused by a gastrointestinal bacteria infection that has entered in the bloodstream causing an ugly pus to develop on the skin. Boils are infections on the skin that can appear anywhere but usually appear on the face, groin, or armpit. Boils are often painful and swell. Two types of hydrotherapy work very well in healing boils by cutting down the infection and getting blood to and numbing the boil.

The first hydrotherapy treatment to use is hot compresses to fight the bacteria. To fight off the infection and heal the boil, use hot compresses on the boil to bring the blood to the area of the boil and reduce the bacteria. For acute boils, soak a cloth in hot water, rinse out, and put it on the boil for about 20 minutes a day.

Using hot and cold compresses can also work to heal boils. After treating the boil with hot compresses for two days, use alternate heat and cold compresses to draw out the pus. Again, soak and wring out a cloth in hot water and place it on the boil for 10 minutes. Then soak the cloth in ice-cold water, rinse, and put in on the boil for 10 minutes. Repeat this treatment three times and do the whole treatment twice a day.

There are a few herbs that also work very well to heal boils. A combination of Echinacea and goldenseal will help fight the bacteria and heal the boil. Take one tablespoon of a tincture of both herbs three times a day until the boil is gone. Don't worry about the bitter taste just remember this herbal treatment works to heal the boil. Taking some turmeric helps cool down the painful swelling of the boil and helps reduce reoccurrences.

Turmeric is a cooling treatment. In ancient healing systems from India boils are seen as a disorder caused by excessive heat or fire, so turmeric is used to cool off the boil. Be sure to get a standardized extract of turmeric. Take 450 mgs three times a day of turmeric. You can also make a turmeric paste and apply it directly to the boil this will bring the boil to a head, which will quicken the healing process. To make the paste, mix one teaspoon of turmeric powder, one teaspoon of Epsom salt, a baked onion, and enough water to make a paste.

Before going to bed, spread the paste on a piece of cloth and put the cloth over the boil. Cover the cloth with a wrap and then secure it with a bandage. Do this for two nights in a row, leaving the mix on overnight. A couple of things to remember with boils - never bust them. If the boil doesn't go away within a week, go see your doctor for medication. If you see red lines coming from the boil and it's swelling,or you have a fever, or the boil is tender, go see a doctor right away.
