To reduce the pain of the sting or bite, try using some baking soda. Make a paste of the baking soda by mixing it with water and applying it to the sting several times a day. This will not only reduce the pain but will help heal the sting or bite. You can use some calamine lotion or aloe vera gel or the extract from the plant, which is really effective in reducing the pain and healing bites and stings. Make sure your pet is not able to lick off the calamine lotion or the aloe vera gel.
Applying some Milk of Magnesia to the bites and stings will help reduce your pet's itching and discomfort. You can apply this treatment several times a day. Meat tenderizers work very well in breaking down the poisons in insect bites and stings, which reduces the pain and swelling. You can make a paste to apply the meat tenderizers to the bites and stings by adding some water. Apply the paste directly on the sting or bite as much as you like. You can also use some ammonia, apply it on a cotton ball, and dab the cotton ball directly on the sting or bite. This helps to reduce the pain.
If your pet's bites or stings are making them uncomfortable, you can tell by touching the sting and see if your pet quenches or twitches, if so, apply some over the counter medication, like Cortaid on the sting or bite. Apply a very small layer of this cream, as pets will try to lick the cream off. You can also help heal and reduce the pain your pet's bites and stings by applying a cold pack to the affected area. Make sure you wrap the pack with a cloth before putting it on your pet. Put the ice pack on your pet's bite or sting for five minutes or as long as your pet can stand it.
To help reduce the pain you can give your pet a nice, cool oatmeal bath. You can use Aveeno or put some rolled oats in a sock and put it over the faucet and let the water run through it. To help prevent or reduce the number of bites and stings your pet gets you can use some Avon Skin-So-Soft, this will help keep the fleas, mosquitoes, and other bothersome insects away from your pet. You can rub it on your pet or you can mix it in a spray bottle with about ΒΌ cap of the lotion with water, shake it, and spray it on your pet.
