The mind does not differentiate between the real and the unreal. Whatever way we perceive a situation in our mind, it goes to the sub-conscious which is reflected to the target organs. So in meditation we create a positive chain of thoughts, visualize them and feel them again and again till it gets consolidated in our mind.
When we transcend the conscious level of the mind, the sub-conscious gets activated and there is relaxation of mind and body. Studies have found that during meditation certain areas of the brain become quiet which is termed as transcendental feeling. In this relaxed stage, we release less stress hormones and also send healing vibrations. At this level the brain creates alpha waves and certain good hormones are released which prevent diseases like cancer and heart disease.
