One of the best ways to do this is to invite health professionals such as government health counselors, private health organizations, health advocates and volunteers, etc. Organize a seminar, training or a forum for all the employees. Focus on health issues that are common in the work place, especially if it's specific depending on the nature of work, and make sure there is active participation from everyone.
You may also have a medical staff in your company. You can train them and let them be the ones who will share the information to the employees of the company if you'd like. Hold an event with health-related themes that is organized by your company's medical staff.
One particular example would be nutrition. Our industry focuses on 24/7 customer service which means that employees are asked to go to work during odd hours of the day. This can adversely affect the diet plans of the employees and their daily lifestyle. Professional advice can be given by nutritionists or health professionals to help the employees maintain a well-balanced diet amidst the odd and shifting schedules.
You can also invite fitness experts so that they can also give advice on how to manage the employees' lifestyle in those types of industries. They can also help in encouraging physical fitness especially if the job entails physical labor.
You may also ask physicians to visit your office for a check-up or you can have an annual physical examination to determine the most common illnesses and other health problems in your office. From there, you will be able to formulate an effective health awareness program. For example, if you notice that a lot of your employees smoke and drink, focus your program about its health hazards. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to help out some of them completely. And of course, continued guidance and monitoring will make it a lot more successful.
However, these will not be effective if there is no active involvement from the employees. You have to create an informative and interesting information drive to alleviate interest and awareness of the employees about the programs that you are planning to do. You're doing this for everyone anyway so make sure that you convince them to join the activities and events. If you think only a few would join, you can try making it a mandatory attendance for all.
Having a healthy lifestyle and overall fitness will be beneficial to the employee as well as the company itself. The more productive your employees are the more profit you usually make. This can also help motivate your employees. Who wouldn't want to work for a company who takes care of their employees' well-being?
