Health and Beauty Uses for Tea

There is nothing like sitting down to a nice relaxing cup of tea but tea has many uses beyond drinking. Next time you are brewing up some tea try brewing a little extra and try some of these health and beauty uses for tea.

Sunburns and razor burns - With a brew of strong tea, soak a cloth and rub the tea on your sunburn or razor burn. If your sunburn is really bad turn your bathtub into a giant mug of tea and soak in it.

Tired and puffy eye relief - Place 2 tea bags into some warm water. Let them soak and then place them on your eyes for 20 minutes. The tea helps reduce puffiness. If you are already making tea you can just directly use the tea bags from your fresh brew, after they cool.

Darken grey hair - Make a very strong brew of tea (about 3 tea bags per cup.) Let the brew sit over night. Pour it in a spray bottle and spray it on. You can also pour the tea straight onto your hair. Let the tea dry on your hair and do not rinse. Repeat until you get the results you want. This will stain clothes, so get out your old clothes.

Add shine to hair - After you get done washing your hair use tea as a final rinse, instead of water. The tea will add extra shine to your hair. If you are a blonde use chamomile tea to really bring out your blonde.

Smelly feet no more - Brew a strong pot of tea, let it cool a little and pour it into a large bowl or foot bath and let your feet soak for 20 minutes or more. A chemical in tea helps get rid of foot odor. This is really good for those with chronic foot odor.

Temporary Tanner /Bronzer - If you want a slight tan without the sun damage try some black tea. Brew a pot of very strong black tea. Let it cool, then pour it into a spray bottle. Be sure your skin is clean, dry and exfoliated for even coverage. Spray the tea all over your skin and let it air dry.

Soothe sore nipples - If your nipples become sore from breast feeding try tea bags. Place a tea bags in a cup of ice water. Let soak. Then, place on your sore nipple and cover with a nursing pad for at least 5 - 10 minutes.

Soothe gums - When you child loses a tooth it can sometimes be painful. To sooth sore and/or bleeding gums cool a tea bag down by soaking it in ice water and then press it to the gums and hold it for a few minutes. The tea should soothe the pain and help stop the bleeding.
