The health benefits of exercise have been proven time and time again throughout history. However, the majority of the world's population chooses to ignore it. Why is it that so many people have an excuse?

Exercising is not only needed for weight loss. The health benefits of exercise can be meaningful for anyone at any weight, even if they are skinny and look healthy. Exercise helps your heart stay in good shape. By keeping a strong and healthy heart, you will keep your metabolism running smoothly and operative well into your twilight years.

The health benefits of exercise are also evident within the ageing process. Someone who exercises will undoubtedly hold on to their youthful look well into old age when compared to their inactive counterparts in the same age range. Also, regular exercise keeps your metabolism machine running as smooth as can be, eliminating the necessity to watch what you eat so much as your age progresses, which usually means weight gain. As one ages, the metabolism slows down because of the excessive cells that are dying. By keeping a healthy exercise regime, you can keep these cells active and stronger, longer.

The health benefits of exercise also extend to reducing the risks for diabetes, developing high blood pressure, colon cancer, and heart disease. Health benefits of exercise regularly also include the decreased probability of depression and anxiety, since keeping busy and active promotes mental well being. By keeping your brain pumping and focused, there is less of the chance for chemical imbalances that may lead to Alzheimer's as well.

Regular exercise has also proven to help people with chronic pains. By strengthening one's body, the muscles take the grunt of the work and require less pressure in problem areas such as the lower back. Some studies have also shown that weight training shows an increase in bone mass which can help combat osteoporosis and other joint debilitating diseases.

However, the most important health benefit of exercise has to be the combating of obesity. Obesity has become a growing problem all over today's world communities. It is responsible for many deaths and is attributed as the leading cause in heart disease, which is the number one killer in America today. Developed countries are suffering from this condition which is completely treatable and can not only improve the overall performance of the person, but also their mental state as well. Obesity not only affects your physical health, it is also detrimental to a person's self esteem.

So let's get off our bums and walk, run, or cycle. Just 30 minutes a day is all it takes to be healthier and live a significantly longer life!
