Normally, doctors and scientists say that people should take at least 10,000 steps per day. But what they forget is how intense those steps should be. Studies show that walking with a moderate or high-intensity will improve your health a lot more and guarantee health benefits. It is important for people to focus on the pace and length of workouts.
So far higher intensity workouts have shown higher bodily oxygen consumptions, better fat control, and increased lipid and glucose metabolisms.
Doctors and researchers encourage not only moderate to high intensity walking, but also step and treadmill workouts, which gets the legs moving and gets you sweating. While different exercises have always been compared most can offer the same results if done properly. The main idea is to get your heart rate up and get sweating. This is what makes some paces and workouts better.
Some studies also suggest maximum paced workouts twice a week. Scientists have found that running at your maximum intensity for two minutes, three times a week could be more beneficial that walking at a low-intensity every day for half an hour. Of course high-intensity workouts need to be followed by cool downs, as well as a brief warm up. People who do not work out regularly will have a hard time sprinting for 2 minutes. The body can actually go into shock from such an intense increase in their heart rate. A warm up can be as simple as a slow jog for a minute or so. Another idea is biking at the maximum intensity for 4 minutes, 3 times a week.
But when a person starts to begin working out, it is suggested that they become introduced to high-intensity work outs as soon as possible.
Another aspect of working out is to not become bored with your routine. As humans, we become easily bored doing something over and over, and are less likely to be interested in or care about what we're doing.
The idea is to evaluate and maybe even change your routine or get a good jump start on a good routine if you're just beginning to work out. There are tons of different ideas for workouts, but obviously through little changes, the results will be more drastic than others.
