Kylyssa Shay
Here are a few gift ideas for the healthy friend, co-worker, or family member. Their costs range from cheap to pricey and their complexity ranges from easy to moderately difficult. Anyone should be able to find a product suggestion or idea to buy or use for fitness conscious gift giving. Any of these ideas will work for most any holiday or occasion.

A Thoughtful Gift Basket Without The Basket

You'll need:

Healthy snacks - green tea, smoked salmon, soy chips, freeze dried fruit - you get the idea

Prevention Magazine, Men's Health, Fitness or similar magazine

Water bottle

Pedometer

A nice workout towel like the Hydryx or a similar product or a workout or yoga mat

Wrapping paper or decorative cellophane

Ribbon

Clear tape

A gift tag or card

Put the pedometer into the water bottle; roll up the magazine with a rubber band around it. Insert the water bottle in the center of the rolled magazine, fold the towel or mat to a reasonable size then roll it up around the magazine. Put the rest of the items inside the rolled towel and wrap it Tootsie roll style with cellophane or gift wrap and tie the ends with ribbon. Sign and attach the gift tag or card.

Simple But Clever

You'll need:

A gift card to a sporting goods store, a certificate for a visit with a personal trainer, or a fitness club or gym membership card

A clear water bottle with a large screw cap

Sparkly confetti or tinsel

A gift tag or card

Put the gift card or certificate into the water bottle, add a few pinches of tinsel or sparkly confetti, screw on the cap and apply a gift tag or card.

Winter Wonder Workout Land (One Size Fits All)

You'll need:

Chap Stick or similar weatherproofing for lips

Sunglasses

A warm, breathable knit hat or balaclava (you know, that knit hat thing robbers wear to a bank hold up)

Warm but breathable exercise gloves

Winter grade athletic socks

Wrapping paper

A cardboard box (optional)

Ribbon or bow

A gift tag or card

Clear tape

Neatly fold up the gloves and put them inside the hat along with the Chap Stick. Cushion the sunglasses with the socks and put them in the center of the package. Tuck the hat to take up any excess space. Place the bundle into the box or simply wrap with gift wrap. Seal it with tape and trim your gift with some ribbon or a nice bow. Sign and attach the gift tag or card.

For The Fit Friend on the Go

A resistance band or set of resistance bands

A jump rope

A compact exercise mat

Ear warmers or a headband

A temper foam hand exerciser

A fingertip heart rate monitor

A water proof watch

Iron on reflective clothing trim

Hand strengthening therapy putty

All of these items are compact and travel well. Any one or all of these would make great gifts for your fit friend who goes on frequent business trips or for the health conscious college student who needs to be portable. They're also great items to keep in your briefcase or in the car or office for lunch break workouts, too.

If They Don't Already Have One...

An iPod or other MP3 player

A gift card from iTunes or similar

If they walk, jog, hike..... well, if they do just about any exercise, an MP3 player is a great, light weight source of music to keep a person entertained during workouts.
