Winter is coming and you may be looking for some alternative ways to spice up your oatmeal maybe you're tired of the traditional ways of flavoring your oatmeal and you're looking to give your taste buds a little healthy alternative.

Fruits: let your imaginations or your children's imaginations run wild. Certain fruits that are out of seasons can be purchased in the frozen foods department of your local grocery store for a healthy alternative if you are trying to cut back on sugars. The possibilities are endless when deciding the combinations of fruits you can use or you can simply stick to using one type of fruit. For a daring twist splash a little bit of organic vanilla extract into your oatmeal when it's cooking.

Organic Cinnamon, Honey, & Milk Oatmeal this is a very healthy and yummy alternative to oatmeal. Prepare your oatmeal as if you normally would make oatmeal. Then flavor to your liking with cinnamon, honey and pour a little bit of milk into your oatmeal while its piping hot. This type of oatmeal is especially delicious on those very cold days.

Organic Brown Sugar and Raisins: while this may be a traditional way to flavor your oatmeal it could not be left off the list because it is a favorite so we decided to tuck it way at the bottom. One tip though we would like to share is that we have found that make your oatmeal taste absolutely divine is to use cooking raisins that are so plump and delicious they will make even your non raisin eating children love raisins.

Vanilla yogurt and strawberry oatmeal I know some people may turn up their nose at the idea of adding yogurt to their oatmeal but by simply adding in a tablespoon of vanilla yogurt to oatmeal it gives the oatmeal a creamy delicious texture we usually tend to add in strawberries but you can please your own taste buds by adding in blueberries or any fruits to your liking.

If sugar is something you are looking to cut out of your oatmeal the healthy alternatives in flavoring would be a low sugar or sugar free jam or jelly, splenda, beet sugar, a sugar substitute, or even a low sugar organic maple sugar.

A healthy twist if you're not watching your carbs or proteins is to crush up granola and add it your oatmeal this gives your oatmeal such a new and exciting twist. There are other possibilities you can go on from here by adding chopped banana's or even some of the soften nuts to your oatmeal for example macadamia nuts are good in oatmeal.

The possibilities are limitless when it comes to flavoring your oatmeal as simple as adding spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, brown sugar, or vanilla or getting a little more complex and adding in various type of ingredients from your cupboard the key is to experiment and to keep the ingredients healthy to satisfy your hunger while maintaining a healthy diet.
