Healthy Carbohydrates You Should Add to Your Diet to Help Aid in Weight Loss

There are a lot of people who claim that low carb diets are the best way to ensure weight loss, but there are carbohydrates that you should consider adding to your diet that will help aid in weight loss. What some people don't realize is that these carbs actually help to make you feel full longer and don't come with all the calories.

Also, low carb diets are not that realistic. Can you really go your entire life without having another piece of bread? Could you go another 20 years without tasting pasta or rice again? Low carb diets can be a good way to shed the weight fast, but if you are looking at long term results, you want to consider adding in these carbohydrates into your diet to actually help aid your weight loss.

Brown Rice

The great thing about brown rice is that it is very versatile. It can be used in side dishes or main dishes and can mix up your diet a little bit. When you use brown rice, you are not getting the starch and sugar that is associated with white rice. Instead you get the whole grain goodness that rice is supposed to be.

When adding in brown rice into your diet, just be sure that you are not eating too much of it, as a single serving a day is enough. It still does have calories in it and over eating any type of food can lead to weight gain instead of losing weight. Brown rice is definitely a healthy carbohydrate that will provide your body with fuel and will have you feeling full for much longer.

Oatmeal

When talking about adding oatmeal into your diet for weight loss, I'm not talking about the instant oatmeal that has added sugar in it. The oatmeal you should add should be the real oatmeal that has no added sugar or preservatives in it. You can easily add flavor to your oatmeal using several different healthy ingredients such as fruit, cinnamon, and yogurt.

The great thing about oatmeal is that it has tons of fiber which makes you not only feel full longer but also helps your digestive system work properly. It makes a healthy breakfast food but can also be added to other foods as well for side dishes as well.

Fresh Fruits

Some people who follow a low carb diet avoid eating fruits, but there is so much nutritional value in fruits that you should definitely consider adding them into your diet. The best fruits to eat are the raw, whole fruits and not the ones that come in a can or jar. These fruits usually have added sugars and preservatives and a lot more calories.

Just like any type of food, you should not overdo it on the fruits. Two or three servings of fruit is good to start off with. You can enjoy a piece of fruit as a snack or use it in your sauces or as a dessert for after dinner. There are also some fruits that have lower calories and sugars than others as well. Berries such as raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries are low in sugar as well as cantaloupe, watermelon, and apples. You may want to start with these fruits first and see how your body reacts and if you continue to still lose weight add in other fruits such as grapes, organs, papaya, and pineapple.

Some people will always believe in their low carb diets for weight loss, but there are healthy carbohydrates that can be added to your diet and you will still lose weight. The nice thing about these healthy carbohydrates is that they help you feel full for much longer, which means you eat less but they also help regulate your digestive system and can help mix up the boredom of your diet.
