Healthy Choice Honey Balsamic Chicken Doesn't Taste Like a Frozen Meal

Lisa Riggs
We all have those nights where the stove just isn't going to get turned on, and the budget or the schedule simply doesn't allow for a take out meal. It is on those nights that my husband and I usually reach for Healthy Choice Honey Balsamic Chicken. This easy to prepare frozen dinner is quite inexpensive and very delicious. The best part about this budget meal is that it truly tastes like homemade fare. I generally don't liken frozen dinners to homemade meals, but this product is an exception.

This frozen dinner is a great combination of chicken tenderloins, red potatoes, asparagus and cherry tomatoes in a very tasty balsamic glaze. The outer packaging of this meal definitely pulls you in as it pictures a delicious looking meal with plump chicken pieces and very fresh looking vegetables. Often you need to take the advertising with a grain of salt, as the meal does not match up to the marketing. This is one frozen meal that is the exception. I pay only two dollars and fifty cents for this product, which only adds to my enthusiasm for this meal.

I love how healthy and nutritious this meal is. The entire dinner contains only two hundred and twenty calories. There is three point five grams of Fat, with only gram of Saturated Fat. No Trans Fat is contained in this meal. Twenty five milligrams of Cholesterol is contained in this product, as well as five hundred and forty milligrams of Sodium. Those of us who are vigilant about our Salt intake should note that this amount represents twenty three percent of the daily recommended value. On the plus side, this frozen meal offers a plethora of necessary vitamins and nutrients including eight percent of Vitamin A, fifteen percent of Vitamin C, six percent of Iron, six percent of Vitamin E, ten percent of Vitamin B12 and many others. The entire list of nutritional information can be found on the back of the box. Weight Watchers followers will be happy to know that this meal equals only four points.

Preparation of Healthy Choice Honey Balsamic Chicken just couldn't be more convenient. After removing the inner packaging from the outer box, the entire meal gets placed in the microwave oven. No holes need to be punctured in the film, nor does any parts of the plastic wrap need to be removed. After cooking for three and a half to four and a half minutes, the dinner gets removed from the oven and allowed to stand for two minutes. The film then gets carefully removed from the food and the contents get stirred. You are now ready to enjoy this wonderful meal.

I absolutely love how much this frozen dinner resembles a homemade meal. The chicken is very tender and the vegetables taste very fresh. Instead of getting soggy, the asparagus and tomatoes have a nice healthy snap to them. The potatoes are very flavorful and taste very similar to cubed potatoes you would bake in the oven. The balsamic glaze adds a bit of sweet and sour flavor to the meat, potatoes and vegetables. I would certainly give this frozen meal a full five star plus rating and happily recommend it to others.
