Healthy Christmas Dessert Alternatives

Holiday Sweets Without Guilt

Jen Levow
One thing for sure everybody will be doing this holiday season is eating. Even if you have stuffed your face with finger foods, the main course and cocktails, I am sure you are not going to resist the most sinful course of them all, dessert. You can treat yourself to delicious sweets without stacking on the calories. A few of my favorite "healthy desserts"include pumpkin mouse, The Holiday Mint Trifle, and Frozen Hot Chocolate.

The delicious smell of pumpkin pie can get your taste buds salivating. The calories can also put you in a depression. Try this adapted recipe for pumpkin mouse. You will not feel guilty going back for seconds.

Pumpkin Mouse
1. Combine 1 can of pumpkin, 1 tub of light or fat free cool whip, and 1 package of light or fat free instant vanilla pudding mix.
2. Serve alone, or over crumbled graham crackers.

Trifles are always a huge hit at parties. They look healthy because they have fruit. The truth is that whipped cream ad puddings can bring added unnecessary calories. Try this fat free version; in addition your guests will love the Christmas holiday colors and flavors.

Holiday Mint Trifle
1. Layer fat free green mint pudding, fat free light cool whip and strawberries in a clear glass bowl.

Hot coco is a seasonal favorite amongst people of all ages. Many people don't choose to have it at the closure of a big meal because coffee or teas is served. Try something different this year. Serve frozen hot coco. Your guests will be surprised and loving you.

Frozen hot coco.
