Oranges may great flavorings for meats. For instance, you can use the orange as part of a marinade for cooking meats. Oranges make interesting sherbet and other frozen dishes that use ice cream. Chinese food uses the flavor of orange in some of its dishes.

Here are five dinner recipes using oranges as ingredients:

1. The salad. Start with a bed of mixed greens. I would choose either green leaf lettuce or baby greens. Put some orange slices without the rind on the edges of the dish of lettuce. Sprinkle dried cranberries over top of the salad, as well as some oriental noodles. Now, make the dressing. Use about four oranges, and mix them in a blender. Add sugar. You will get a thick orange juice blend. Then, add some apple cider vinegar. This makes an incredibly tasty dressing. Pour it lightly over top of your salad.

2. The main course. Chicken goes great with orange flavoring. Take a few oranges and make them into juice with a blender or juicer. Add some sugar. For a healthy alternative, use xylitol instead of sugar. This is a sweetener that actually helps prevent cavities. Once you have the orange juice, add some cloves. Let the chicken soak in the juice for a few minutes. Then, cook the pieces of chicken in the oven in a bag. You can place some of the juice in the bag to keep the chicken moist as it cooks. Once the chicken has cooked, rub a small amount of the dressing over top of the chicken for added flavoring.

3. Dessert. You will be making an interesting and tasty ice cream dish. Get some vanilla bean frozen yogurt. Then, blend some oranges in the blender with some xylitol sugar substitute. Pour the orange juice mixture over top of the frozen yogurt. Or, you could add lowfat milk and make a milkshake. This will give you a delicious orange cream flavor.

4. Appetizer. For an appetizer, try orange crusted shrimp. Make some batter for your shrimp, and add orange juice from freshly squeezed oranges to the batter. Fry the shrimp. Then, make an orange dipping sauce for the shrimp. Use pieces of crushed orange and crushed apples from a blender. Add some pieces of coconut and some sugar or sugar substitute. Add a bit of milk, and you've got a hawaiian style orange dipping sauce for the shrimp.

5. Side dish. Get some orange slices and marshmallows, as well as orange flavored jello. Make the jello, and put in the orange slices and marshmallows before it is chilled. If you wish, you can make marshmallow creme first, by whipping the marshmallows in the blender. Then, stir the jello mix with the marshmallows and orange slices, so that you get more of an orange jello marshmallow salad. Compare this to watergate salad.
