Healthy Drinks, Nutritional Beverages that Give Back

Water has many health benefits including helping with weight control, not only does it not have any calories but drinking water also helps to make a person feel fuller and therefore less likely to overeat. Water is also important for bodily functions, not only does it keep the body hydrated but it can help the body flush out toxins more efficiently. Water is available now in many different flavors as well as water that is enriched with minerals and vitamins. A person however should read the label carefully to make sure they water they are drinking is pure and it does not add artificial sweeteners or sugar, both of which are not necessary. 100% water can easily be flavored by adding a wedge of lemon if needed. Most physicians recommend that a normal person consume 8 to 9 cups of water a day.

Milk is another healthy beverage and there are many different types of milk that fit the healthy choice way of thinking. Low fat, soy or fat free milk are the best types of milk. Soy is also a good alternative milk if a person has lactose problems. Milk is rich in calcium and drinking at least 3 glasses of milk a day with a proper diet has been shown to aid in reducing belly fat.

Vegetable juice is a great way to add antioxidants, vitamins and other nutrients to a person's diet. Many people find it difficult to get all their necessary vitamins by eating vegetables each day, however drinking vegetable juice is a great way to supplement your normal diet. It is important however to read the juice label to make sure that the vegetable juice does not have any additives such as sugar or artificial sweetener. Great vegetable juice choices include vegetable blends such as Campbell's or V8 juice or carrot juice.

Fruit juices are sometimes misleading however drinking 100 percent fruit juice is a great way to get vital vitamins and antioxidants, with no sugar added. Drinking 100 percent fruit juices are a key healthy component to growing children and teens. Great fruit juice options include cranberry or anything high in antioxidants like blueberry blends.

Green tea is great for raising the bodies thermogenesis or metabolism. The metabolic rate increase in green tea increases the bodies calorie burn and its ability to process fat. Green tea has antioxidants and other nutritional benefits that can help with the digestion process, therefore it is highly recommended for weight loss.

Nutritionists and medical professionals will tell you that there are only two important factors to watch for when choosing healthy drinks and that is is it free of sugars and other unnecessary additives such as words you can't pronounce and does it give you something in return for drinking it such as vitamins and minerals. Unfortunately many of the drinks on the market are either full of calories and sugars or devoid of any at all with no real nutritional value other than hydration, which is fine especially when it comes to flushing your system with plain water. However calories are not bad in a drink such as vegetable juice if you are getting valuable nutritional benefits and are keeping any sugars or artificial sweeteners to a minimum. Many doctors will tell patients to drink more low calorie drinks such as fat free milk and green tea and cut back on the 0 calorie sodas because of their lack of nutritional benefits.
