First I have been a life long sufferer of urinary tract infection. I have taken all the tips to prevent getting them but still get them. Then during my research I discovered that drinking cranberry juice every day greatly cuts down on the recurrence of urinary tract infections. Although there has been no research to prove that cranberry capsules or tablets are effective, you could give those a try if you do not like the juice. I found that it got better the more I drank it.
My husband was diagnosed with high cholesterol a couple of years ago. He was put on medication right away and given the basic instructions of diet and exercise, which I knew he would promptly ignore. So I looked for something that I might actually get him to do. I could not believe what I found out about oatmeal, it not only turns out that oatmeal is a great way to reduce bad cholesterol but it also lowers risk for high blood pressure, type two diabetes, and weight gain. What a great thing to start your day out with. Something that can help you in so many ways.
For women who suffer from hot flashes, although I am not there yet myself, there is a new study out that shows that soybeans cut the frequency of hot flashes in half! That is a great rate if you ask me. This study used a soy extract so I assume you can find it in the pharmacy supplement section.
Next we have legumes which cut the risk of diabetes more than 40%. If your like me you don't know what a legume is... well some examples are peanuts and dried beans, especially soybeans.
Finally another article I ran across said that fish oil can help brain damage. Some of the evidence showed that omega-3 fish oils can protect brain cells. DHA a component of fish oil is especially effective and prevents damage that leads to the onset of Alzheimer's. Therefore if you get your omega-3 you are less likely to get Alzheimer's.
I hope that some of these tips about foods that can be beneficial to your health will help you out as much as they did me and my family.
