Beef jerky. What a better way to say Happy Halloween than to give your friend or co-worker some dried meat. They may be chewing on this for a while and thanking you sarcastically with each bite. This is not something you eat if you're really hungry or in a hurry.
Cereal bars. There are some breakfast cereals, like Cheerios, that have cereal bars similar to how granola bars are made. The packages are fairly small, low in calories, and part of a good balanced breakfast... or Halloween snack in this case.
Rice Crispy Squares. I love Rice Crispy Squares because you can do so much with them. You can either buy them already pre-packaged or make your own, adding whatever flavors you desire to them. Keep them in the refrigerator until you're ready to disperse them to the trick-or-treaters.
Jello. This would be more for gag as no one wants loose jello inside their food bag. If you want to gross someone out, make it such that the jello has weird fruit shapes inside of it.
Dried Fruit Chips. You can find dried apple chips or dried banana chips in most local grocers and it's fairly inexpensive. They have a great taste and can last for days. I know Seneca is a great brand for apple chips and there are a variety of flavors for them. Banana chips you can actually make yourself or buy already pre-packaged.
Breath Mints. Give this gift from a distance to let someone know how much you care. Tic-tac has an orange flavored one that's really good. I remember I used to eat it like candy more than breath mints. Breath mints in general are low in calories and usually people aren't going to eat a ton of them at a time even if their breath stinks.
Juice or Milk Boxes. Orange juice boxes, apple juice boxes, chocolate milk boxes... all of these would be acceptable. If you go with a milk box route, I'd recommend Organic Valley's milk cartons. You can buy a pack of them and keep them in storage.
Chex Mix. Chex Mix has a mixture of pretzels, mini-croutons, peanuts, rice snacks, corn snacks all in one package. It's like trail mix, just not as healthy, but it's still healthy in its own right. You can find Chex Mix in your local grocer and there are a variety of flavors to choose from.
Broccoli Spears. If you thought beef jerky says Happy Halloween, give someone some cut-up broccoli for their Halloween goodies. If left in there too long it will leave a scent until Christmas. Broccoli is best meant eaten immediately or fairly soon.
Sesame Sticks. I prefer the honey-roasted sesame sticks. They do have a high fat content, but are good in other areas. There are also plain ones available, but go for the sweeter taste.
