There are so many ways to add flavor to your oatmeal. My personal favorite way is going to be with a peanut butter and banana. You can decide yourself how much of everything you would like to add. I would put the peanut butter before cooking the oatmeal in the microwave or stove top the when ready to serve I would add the slices of bananas and then top off with a squirt or two of honey.
Here are some other great combinations. Some people cook their oatmeal with water, some with milk and others use both. I personally like to use skim milk because you can still get a creamy substance and cut out most of the fat. So therefore you wont feel so bad about adding some chocolate chips. I think chocolate chips also go well with peanut butter. You can add just about any fruit to your oatmeal. Strawberries, peaches, apple, grapes, cherries, bananas, blueberries, blackberries and dry cranberries all go well with a nice hot bowl of oatmeal.
You can also add some chopped up nuts to your creation. Almonds, pecans, and walnuts would go great with blueberries, cranberries and strawberries. Don't forget you can dazzle your dish with some nutmeg, cinnamon or brown sugar. You can also use maple syrup or honey to sweeten. If you watching your calories you can use splenda instead of sugar. I sometimes use flavored soy milk instead of regular milk.
Now go and have some fun creating your own personal favorite way to eat your oatmeal.
