There are many foods that can get stuck between your teeth. These foods include candy, meat and vegetables. Sometimes, people are unaware that this has occurred. Therefore, the food is not removed from their teeth. Other people will notice this during everyday interaction. This causes an embarrassing situation for the person who has food stuck in their mouth and others who have to look at it.
Some people will not tell you that you have food stuck in your teeth because they are afraid of being impolite. They do not realize that it is helpful to make someone aware of this mistake. Notifying someone of this can contribute to their good health. However, many citizens would rather steer clear of a potentially embarrassing situation. Flossing after each meal will prevent you from having and unattractive smile.
Plaque can harden and cause cavities
Everyone will develop plaque if food is left on their teeth for a long period of time. While plaque should be removed within one hour, many citizens do not brush their teeth immediately after eating. This is due to hectic work schedules and the desire to brush in the comfort of one's own home. However, plaque can still remain on your teeth even after brushing. Flossing is an essential action that can prevent the development of cavities.
Dental Problems can lead to tooth decay
If your tooth starts to decay from bacteria and cavities, other problems will follow if not treated. Bacteria from the decayed tooth will soon enter your blood stream and cause serious infections. The problems may include gum disease, which can be fatal if not treated. Gum disease can develop major infections after periodontal bacteria has entered the blood stream. This contributes to the development of heart disease and increases the risk of stroke.
Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in this country. If you have a tooth that has decayed severely, it may have to be removed. This is another result of not flossing and leaving plaque on our teeth. Citizens only get one set of teeth during their adult years. It is important to take care of the teeth that you have so that you do not lose them. Flossing can prevent tooth decay and many other dental health problems. It must be done on a daily basis in order to remove plaque and combat cavities.
