Healthy Pancake Recipes

These delicious, healthy pancake recipes are variations on family favorites and are sure to please! A mixture of traditional and health-conscious ingredients are used to ensure that these pancakes are both tasty and good for you.

Wheaty Pancakes

Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup wheat flour
1 tbsp wheat germ
1 tsp salt
3 1/2 tsp baking powder
3 tbsp powdered sugar
1 1/4 cup low-fat milk
3 tbsp melted butter
1 egg, whisked

Put all dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix, or sift, together well. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients to pour in the milk, butter, and whisked egg. Mix together.

Heat a lightly oiled pan or griddle on medium to high heat until it begins to sizzle. Pour approximately 1/4 cup of the pancake batter onto the pan and cook until small bubbles begin to appear on surface, then flip over with a spatula and cook the other side until golden brown. Serve with fruit compote or maple syrup!

Apple Crisp Honey Pancakes

Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup thinly sliced apple pieces, peeled
2 tbsp honey
1 tsp salt
3 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 1/4 cup low-fat milk
3 tbsp melted butter
1 egg, whisked

Place all dry ingredients (not the apple) in a large bowl and mix together well. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients to pour in the milk, butter, honey, and whisked egg. Mix together.

Heat a lightly oiled pan or griddle on medium to high heat until it begins to sizzle. Pour approximately 1/4 cup of the pancake batter onto the pan and cook until small bubbles begin to appear on surface. Toss in thin slices of apple now. Flip over with a spatula and cook the other side until golden brown. Serve with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon!
