For those with a child who likes strawberries and pineapple, try making the tropical hula smoothie. To make this delicious smoothie, all you need are 1 handful of strawberries, 1 cup of milk, 1 or 2 slices of pineapple, 10 ice cubes, a small piece of watermelon with the seeds taken out, and ¼ cup of sugar. Put this all in a blender and blend for a couple of minutes until the mixture is smooth and ready to drink.
For those with a child who likes chocolate, bananas and strawberries, make the chocolate banana smoothie. To make this one, you need 2 bananas, 7 large strawberries, 1 cup of fat free vanilla yogurt, 1 cup of 1% or skim milk, and 1 and a ½ cups of chocolate syrup. Put it in the blender to blend it. Then you and your child can drink it and enjoy it.
For those with a child who likes blackberries and raspberries and strawberries, make the fruity flavor smoothie. To make this fruity drink, you need 2 cups of strawberries, ½ cup of raspberries, 1 cup of yogurt, 20 ice cubes, ½ cup of sugar, and a ½ cup of milk. Put this in a blender and blend until smooth and ready to drink.
If your child likes apples, try the cinnamon apple smoothie. To make this smoothie, get 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of vanilla yogurt, 1 apple, ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon and a handful of ice cubes. Wash and then peel the apple then cut the apple into small pieces and take out the seeds. Put all of this in a blender and blend for a minute or two until smooth.
Those were just a few examples of the kinds of healthy smoothies you could make. The wonderful thing about smoothies is that they are easy to make, they taste great, and they're a wonderful way to see to it that your child gets the fiber and antioxidants he or she needs. Another thing too is that you can be very creative and flexible in making smoothies. For instance, instead of adding milk, you could add yogurt or wheat germ or protein powder to give the smoothie an extra nutrition boost. Also in cases where the recipe calls for sugar, you don't have to use sugar if you don't want to do that. For example, if your child is allergic to dairy, you and your child could just enjoy the natural taste of the fruit smoothie without the sugar.
So as you think about the things you can do for your child, remember that one of the things you can do is make healthy smoothies. Your child and you will both enjoy it!
