As a teenager, I used to wake up late for school so many times. As I was getting ready, I'd realize I'd only have the time to either eat breakfast or make myself a snack for later. But not both. And though I do not encourage skipping breakfast (it really is the most important meal of the day), I do have some snacks that are easy and fast to make, and not to mention-healthy!
Chopped fruit with chili
This is a very popular snack among Hispanic countries. And it is exactly what the name describes. Chop fruits (or veggies if you like) and sprinkle some chili to add spice. Fruits that go great with chili are mangoes, watermelon, papaya, oranges, and melon. Veggies are surprisingly good with chili too. Try cucumbers, carrots, and broccoli. Though it might seem strange, it's delicious and a great healthy snack. In addition to that, chili contains anti oxidants that helps slow down the aging process in humans.
Peanut Butter
Peanut butter goes with just about anything. Peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches and Peanut butter and banana sandwiches are a popular snack, but I bet you've never tried them with green Granny Smith Apples. It makes both a sweet and tangy snack. If you're willing to let yourself go for a while, you must try peanut butter and Oreo cookies. Another snack I recommend is spreading peanut butter on salted crackers. They're simple, easy, and delicious.
Granola and fruit
This is also both natural and delicious. It's a small salad-like dish that includes almonds, berries (strawberries and blueberries are typically used), cottage cheese, and granola. Simply mix all ingredients and you've got a quick healthy snack. No cooking and not time consuming.
Foods you should still eat
There are many people who tell you "don't eat this! eat that!" but there are foods you should still be eating. Here are some more quick, healthy snacks:
Apples- Many people eat apples because of the popular saying that they take away hunger. Though this might not be necessarily true (everyone I know has tried this but failed), apples are good because they help clean your teeth. They are a natural teeth whitener. So while it may not necessarily keep the doctor away, it might keep the dentist away a little longer. Not to mention, most of an apple is water-one less glass to drink!
Granola Bars- There's a lot of talk about these babies. Are they really healthy? Do they actually help you lose weight? While there are different opinions to these questions, this is still a great food to snack on. It's high on energy and consists of many grains. It's a bar full of goodness.
Citrus fruits- such as grapefruits and oranges are good for your immune system. Peel them, slice them, or make a quick juice out of them. Just another simple snack while on the go!
