Many Americans are overweight. In fact, The USA has the highest percentage of overweight people in the entire world. Years of eating fast food, candy, and potato chips has taken it's tole on Americans. Diseases like periodontal disease, liver disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension, stroke, colon cancer, chronic renal failure, pancreatic cancer, heart disease, gallbladder disease, gallstones, osteoarthritis, gout, depression, sleep apnea, and asthma can now be directly linked to obesity. Another reason many Americans suffer from obesity is because of a lack of physical activity. In past generations, many Americans had more physical jobs such as farming, ranching, petroleum refinery operator, chemical equipment tender, production helper, millwright, cabinet maker, materials inspector, mechanical inspector, optical instrument assembler, precision device inspector, welder, tool and die maker, extruding machine operator, engine assembler, and timing device assembler. Today, Americans have jobs like advertising and public relations manager, development officer, mortgage lending director, plant engineering manager, controller, marketing director, engineering director, general accounting manager, finance director, national sales manager, accounting director, information security director, operations director, information systems director, general manager, and commercial lending director. This is a major cause of obesity. There are, however, ways to combat obesity.

Drink Water

Many people drink beverages filled with sugar. This is a major cause of obesity. Instead, drink water every day. You should be drinking 45-65 ounces of water on a daily basis. If you do this, you will lose weight.

Cardiovascular Exercise

You should be doing a cardio workout 3-5 times a week. Some of this type of exercise include running, rowing, swimming, jogging,cycling, stepping, spinning, inline skating, spinning, walking, sprinting, kickboxing, and skipping. To start, do your choice of these exercises. You'll need to do 3 days a week. After a while, you can go up to 5 days a week. Do this for a while, and you will definitely lose weight.

Eat A Nutritious Diet

If you really want to lose weight, you'll need to ditch the fattening foods. Eat a diet filled with grains, vegetables, lean meats, and fruit. Make sure you eat in moderation.
