Heart Attack Grill and Las Vegas

Julie Wimmer
Heart Attack Grill. What's in a name you say? Well, at least you know, if you are going to a place to eat with a name like that, what you are in for. And of course it's in Las Vegas. The city of sin is the perfect place for a restaurant that serves foods that are naughty for your body.

Here 's the deal at the Heart Attack Grill:
- if you weigh 350 pounds or more, you eat free
- the calories you consume in Las Vegas, apparently, according to the owner, stay in Vegas
- there is an 8000 calorie meal (which is like 5 days of meals) called the Quadruple Bypass which has four burger patties, which equal about 2 pounds, topped with cheese and bacon (no lettuce of course, too healthy. With the french fries (which they cook in pure lard) on the side and a triple butterfat milkshape topped with actual butter you have accumulated 8000 calories.
- the restaurant is a hospital theme with an ambulance outside and servers dressed as nurses; the owner likes to be called "Dr. Jon"
- the philosophy of the owner and the restaurant is do whatever you want since the restaurant is not hiding any facts about itself
- food orders are put on prescriptiion pads because, well, you may need one for real afterwards
- customers who do finish that Quadruple Bypass burger get pushed out in wheelchairs

This is not a place for me, but it does peak my curiosity. Apparently there is a sign at the door that says the place is not good for your health, so there are no illusions, but I am sure there are going to be a lot of people who just want to try this place for fun. And fun could lead to obesity! So watch out!

I think that I may have just gotten indigestion simply from reading some of the offered meals.

Great article. I've been there but never stopped to eat. I like to think that I'm a little smarter than that.
