Heartfelt Valentine's Day Gifts for Him

Viktorya Hale
You never hear of a girlfriend making her boyfriend something for Valentine's Day or any holiday for that matter. When you do actually hear about this, it is something made for a husband of many years. This year is different though, because we are going to give you ideas of things that you can make your boyfriend for Valentines Day. When you make something, it comes from the heart. A lot of times adults think of it as corny, especailly if they are just dating. Actually, it is these heartfelt, handmade gifts that we will remember for years to come.

Shadowbox Collage

The first thing that we can think of is a collage of pictures. You can take a nice shadow box and all of your favorite pictures. If you have been together for awhile, there may be a lot of pictures to use. This is one idea. You may even talk to his Mom and get some pictures of him growing up. This would make a beautiful collage for him to pass down to a child as well. Make sure that you have copies of these pictures, because you will be cutting them out.

You will need:

* All of your favorite pictures of him and you both together. You may include some of family such as his children.

* A wooden shadow box according to the amount of pictures you will be using.

* Clear and strong scotch tape.

* Scissors

* Felt tip marker

* Thick white paper

* Finishing spray

Organize the pictures according to time and events. For instance, put together the pictures of his childhood, for one section. Then pictures of you both in another section. Include pictures of his children, if you want. It all depends on what you want to do. For a more intimate shadow box, you may want to just use pictures of you two together.

In the back of each section, you will want to tape paper with that particular event written on it. From there you can begin your picture collage. Remember that overlaping the pictures is the entire point to the project. Tape all of the pictures to make your collage. When you are finished with the project, you will need to evenly spray the entire shadow box with a finishing gloss that is suitable for wood and pictures. This will keep it all intact and give it a nice glossy finish.

Framed Poem Written in Calligraphy

Of all of the poems that you wrote for him, there is bound to be one that you love the most. Once you have chosen this poem, you will want to make sure that it isn't too long. The reason being is because it may not fit on a frame. It all depends on how small you write, but you wouldn't want it written too small, because you want people to read it. Ok, you get the point.

You will need:

* That special poem

* A frame to fit

* Calligraphy paper

* Calligraphy ink pen (use a nice color) or maybe you can find a stencil, if you aren't experienced in calligraphy.

You may want to make very light pencil lines on the calligraphy paper before you begin. This will reassure that the poem will be even on the paper. Start with the title, make sure that the paper will fit in the frame and begin writing. When you are finished, frame it.

His Favorite Dinner and Special Dessert

There is nothing that will touch a man's heart more then something in his belly. You should know his favorite foods by now, but have you ever cooked them for him? What does he normally eat when you go out to eat? Think of his favorite food when you visit his favorite restaurant. From there, find the perfect recipe that sounds close to what that food is. The point to this gift is to show him that he won't have to spend his money taking you out there, because now you can make it at home for the both of you.

Once you have established the perfect entree, think about his favorite side dishes? Is there a particular type of vegetable that he likes? How about dessert? If you are always making him one particular type of dessert, be romantic with it this year. Add a special touch to the dessert. For example say he loves brownies. Well make him some and take a heart shaped cookie cutter and Hershey's Kisses. Cut the brownie out and slightly melt the kiss on top. Just an idea. You know what he loves.

    Thanks ya'll - I am far from a sheltered, Hollywood like life lol. If you only knew... I understand that some women make things, but it probably isn't very common.

    "You never hear of a girlfriend making her boyfriend something for Valentine's Day or any holiday for that matter."

    What sort of sheltered, pampered, real-people-free Hollywood life do you live that this is a true statement? Women have been making VD gifts for their men since the holiday became popular in Victorian times.

    Couldn't finish reading after such a stupid lede.
