Heath Ledger Biography and Filmography
Ledger made his American debut in 1999 with his charismatic performance in 10 Things I Hate About You. Although many of his films failed to win over the critics, Heath Ledger developed a massive fan base due to his good looks and engaging personality. Ledger was known for being extremely selective about the roles he took on, and even turned down the starring role in Spiderman. Deserving of more accolades than he has received, he finally earned an Oscar nomination for his role in Brokeback Mountain in the Best Supporting Actor category.
Heath Ledger and actress Michelle Williams gave birth to a baby girl, Matilda Rose, on October 28th, 2005. The couple co-starred in Brokeback Mountain before marrying in real life. After a period of discord, the couple finally split in September 2007, but Ledger remained active in Matilda's life.
Heath Ledger was found dead, alone and in bed, in his New York City apartment on January 22, 2007. The actor was only 28 years old.
