Hollywood lost a young actor today. Heath Ledger, 28, was found dead this afternoon in his Manhattan apartment at, 421 Broome Street. The cause of death is not yet known, but there were sleeping pills nearby, and it is speculated that Ledger took an over dose. The police said Ledger was found naked on the floor near the bed his apartment in SoHo. Foul play is not expected at this time.

According to police, Heath Ledger was due to have a massage at 3:00pm, but when his housekeeper went to tell him the masseuse had arrived, she found Ledger dead! Medical teams were unable to revive him. The housekeeper stated that there were prescription, and non prescription pills on the night table next to his bed.

Ledgers father said he was a kind hearted, selfless individual, and that he would not have taken his own life. He also asked that his family be left in peace to mourn the death of his son.

Hundreds of fans, curious lookers, and news crews gathered in front of Heath Ledger's home in SoHo Tuesday night. There were many acting students that gathered all around, bringing flowers, and paying their last respects for a young man that had become a very well know actor, and loved by many around the globe.

Heathcliff Andrew Ledger was born on April 4, 1979, in Perth, Australia, to Sally and Kim Ledger. Ledger was cast by a local theater company in the play "Peter Pan" when he was only 10 years old. Ledger and his sister are named after the two main romantic characters of the Emily Brontë novel, "Wuthering Heights".

Heath Ledger received an Academy Award nomination for his role in the 2005 film "Brokeback Mountain". Ledger also appeared in children's television programs, and in the 1992 film "Clowning Around", and the television series "Ship to Shore." Ledger also appeared in the teenage romantic comedy "Ten Things I Hate About You", a send-up of Shakespear's, "The Taming of the Shrews". Other films include, "The Patriot", "A Knight's Tale", "Monster's Ball", "Lords of Dogtown," "Casanova,", and "The Brothers Grimm".

Heath Ledger was on the rise in his movie career, and many are calling this a very tragic loss. Mel Gibson was quoted as saying, "I had such great hope for him, He was just taking off and to lose his life at such a young age is a tragic loss." John Travolta said, "he was upset, thought the world of his talent, and he had a special feeling for Ledger.

Heath Ledger met Michelle Williams while filming "Brokeback Mountain" in 2004. They became inseparable, and moved to Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. Williams gave birth to their daughter, Matilda Rose, on Oct. 28, 2005. The couple separated after three years together on, September 2, 2007.

I was not personally familiar with this talented actor, but from all I have read tonight, he is going to be mourned, and missed by a great deal of people, all around the world. Heath Ledger was a rising star, on his way to great fame and stardom, he was Hollywood's "heart-throb", and now, in a blink of an eye, he is gone. What could have possibly gone wrong? Why is Heath Ledger dead tonight? Only the days to come will answer these questions.

Great job on this! I hope his family is left alone to mourn. I also hope Williams can keep their child's sight fixed on the good and not the bad.

I was shocked when I found out the other day, as a co-worker of mine said "This year has really started off badly, hasn't it?" Good reporting.
