Heath Ledger: Why the Hysteria Over the Death of a Celebrity Addict?

All this whining about poor little Heath is revolting considering he died because of his disastrous life choices; the excessive out pouring of grief over the actor is particularly disingenuous when put into the context of the death and slaughter of innocents being unleashed in Iraq daily.

Heath was a spoiled guy who made too much money, lived a self-absorbed and hedonistic life and was an alcoholic and drug addict: not exactly the poster child of great character. The only thing society ever expected of him was to simply show up and it heaved adulations and accolades at his feet when he deserved none of it. He wasn't creating works of magnificent art, just mediocre movies, he wasn't brokering peace or teaching kids at inner city schools or operating on sick children; these are the real heroes of life.

The shrines to Heath are in the same category and caliber as the loony animal rights activists who will go bonkers over an abused pit-bull but support the murder of thousands of innocent men, women and children; these are manifestations of a society that has abandoned all compassion, responsibility and connection to other human beings. When media and public are brought to their knees over a dead, drug addicted celebrity but have little or no reaction to an Iraqi child raped, murdered, her entire family slaughtered and then the vile soldiers covering up their war crimes, this is a society that is spiraling towards complete breakdown.

Talk about worshipping the Golden Calf.

The entire Heath Ledger fiasco is a lie, a carnival of trick mirrors where the truth is distorted and lost in reflections of narcissism, hedonism, defiled character and vanity. It's a reflection of how utterly shallow and vapid life has become for most Americans.

What the hell is happening in this world that we are diabolically callous towards suffering of people who look different but, we're crippled with grief and compassion for a rich white guy who spent his life feeding his selfish addictions? Reports are now surfacing that Ledger placed his love of drugs and alcohol above his own daughter and relationship with her mother; the content of this mans character was tarnished at best and malignant at worst.

I've heard many of his ilk whining that fame killed Ledger; what a lie. Fame didn't kill him, Heath killed himself.

How many people died in Iraq on the same day that this pampered, rich obnoxious celebrity poured thousands of dollars of drugs down his throat and died?
