Heather Mills Eliminated from Dancing with the Stars

Heather Mills, former wife of Beatle Paul McCartney and animal rights activist, was the fifth star to be eliminated from ABC's popular dance reality series, Dancing With The Stars, on the show's Tuesday night elimination show.

Mills, who started the show strong with partner Jonathan Roberts, failed to impress the audience and judges with last night's Paso Doble, a dramatic dance that evokes the passion and angst of a Spanish bullfight. Heather, who had to travel back to the United Kingdom the previous week, had to move practices with her partner from the studio in Los Angeles to London, as well as in-transit while on board a plane across the Atlantic. The transition put a strain on the couple's dance, placing them near the bottom of the judges' leader-board.

This week wasn't the first rough spot that Mills had experienced during the dance competition. Last week, during the final move of her dance, Mills moved to balance one leg on the shoulder of her partner. As she did, she lost her balance and fell on the dance floor. The fall lost her points with series judge, Carrie Ann Inaba, landing her in the bottom two last week as well.

Despite her tenacity and determination, the majority of the viewing public were not standing behind Mills and voted her out of the ballroom. As she left the competition, Mills produced a farewell speech from her dress, obviously prepared for the night's elimination. She thanked the voters, fans and her partner for their continued support despite her handicap. She also noted that since her appearance on the show, the exposure she had garnered had led to more donations for the charities she supports via her website.

The show, which is in its fourth season, has eliminated four stars so far. Model and author, Paulina Porizkova, former Miss USA Shandi Finnessey, TV show host, Leeza Gibbons and NBA Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler. Tonight's elimination leaves the show with six remaining couples. Though this season still has six remaining weeks left, fans seem to believe that Joey Fatone, Apolo Anton Ohno and Laila Ali are shaping up to be the last three stars standing.

Next week, the remaining couples will be scored on the Fox Trot and one Latin dance.

This season's shows can be viewed in their entirety by logging onto ABC.com and clicking "full episodes." You can also view the couples' un-aired backstage confessions by navigating to the show's main page and clicking "more video."

She did a lot better than I thought she would. She seem nicer, too. This whole thing might actually help her image.

Why was Billy Ray allowed to get away with that nasty move? Spreading the legs of his partner while she was doing a hand stand was offensive. This is supposed to be a family show; for whose family? This needs to be addressed immediately! Any dancer with pride would be embarrassed by this conduct.

I was kind of actually sad to see her go. I thought she did an amazing job considering her handicap. I think she just didn't have a fan base to vote for her. I don't believe it was a real reflection on her dancing.
