Heather Mills McCartney: High Priced Call Girl?

This week's legal ruling in London's High Court in favor of Heather Mills awarded the former wife of Paul McCartney $48.6 million US in their protracted and antagonistic divorce proceedings. Mills had been married to former Beatle McCartney for just under four years. If we're being generous and say that Mills and McCartney were married a full four years, the settlement works out to $1,387 per hour of their marriage. Who wouldn't like to make $1,387 per hour? I mean, who makes that kind of money?

How about former New York governor Eliot Spitzer's new friend? Ashley Dupre, a call girl with the elite Emperors Club VIP, was allegedly billed out for $4,300 for a 2 ½ hour romp with Spitzer, plus expenses. That works out to $1,720 per hour. A charge out rate that any law firm, even Spitzer's old firm, would envy. Now of course, Dupre only gets part of that revenue stream, but that's what has to come out of Spitzer's pocket. And that doesn't include what Spitzer will most likely have to pay out in his very own divorce settlement. Spitzer and McCartney need to get together for a beer to commiserate.

The biggest difference between Mills and Dupre is that Mills gets paid even for the hours she was sleeping, or doing her nails, or partying with her friends. For such a short term marriage and one in which Mills did nothing active to earn or increase McCartney's fortune, it is difficult to understand the justification for such a money grab. Certainly, Mills' and McCartney's daughter, Beatrice, needs to be provided for but she is indeed being provided for separately. Mills knew a good thing when she saw it. Once she hooked into Paul McCartney, she would never have to worry about going back to doing nickel and dime pornography shoots again. If she stayed with him, she was rich. If she divorced him, she was rich. If he died, she was rich.

Dupre had to work a lot harder for her money. In order to get paid, Dupre had to always be on the clock, performing whatever was required in the client's rider. Her hair and nails had to be perfect, and she always had to be in a sunny mood. She had to maintain her physique and exercise her conversation skills. Mills on the other hand could hang around in her pajamas, scratching her butt, and complaining about how hard it was to live with McCartney. She only ever had to address McCartney's little old shriveled friend occasionally at most.

All in all, a pretty sweet deal for a working girl.
