Naked Supermodel Heidi Klum Doesn't like Naked Barbie Dolls

The German-born Klum is no stranger to posing in the nude. She has posed nude in Max Magazine and practically topless in Sports Illustrated. This past April, Klum posed nude for a series of photos for photographer Russell James' new art book. Now she is working with renowned photographer Rankin for the new coffee table book, titled "Rankin's Heidilicious."

"It's very naughty. I've been shooting with Rankin, for seven years and working with him is fun because he always makes me look different," she said. "He always gets me to take my clothes off for some reason. We'll do some job and then he'll say, 'Why don't we shoot some more things?' and I'll wind up without anything on."
"It always bothered me that Barbie was naked"
However, as reported in "Heidi Klum a real Barbie® girl and now a Heidi Klum Barbie® doll," when Heidi Klum was working with Mattel Barbie doll designer Robert Best to design the Heidi Klum Barbie® doll, she made it a point to address an issue which had always bothered her - Barbie's nakedness, "It always bothered me that Barbie was naked, so mine has on this cute pink bra and panties." The Heidi Klum Barbie® doll is part of Mettel's Blonde Ambition Collection that celebrates iconic blondes in fashion and entertainment.

I am not sure what the message is the Klum thinks she is sending out to children like her daughter, Leni, a young Barbie doll collector. It is OK for mommy to bare it all, but heaven forbid the plastic pink princess Barbie have her private vinyl parts exposed?
Heidi Klum naked - Is this what they call "progressive?"
I know Europeans think they have a more progressive attitude towards nudity than we colonial Americans do, but it's time for some of these supermodels to put their clothes back on. And, what kind of person buys a coffee table book of nude photos and puts it out on their coffee table anyway? It's bad enough we are bombarded with photos of Heidi Klum's breasts in catalogs, lingerie ads and billboards. Now I have to start worrying about seeing her breasts popping up on coffee tables.

The Heidi Klum Barbie® doll will come to a toy store near you wearing a coral sequined dress, heavy earrings, gold heels and underwear in September. Heidi Klum, who is married to singer Seal and the mother of three, will come to a bookstore near you wearing nothing in October.
Put your clothes back on, Heidi!

Right - so let me get this straight - parents can buy the coffee table book an leave it out for the kids to see, but Barbie must have clothes on? That's self-defeating. Good article.
