Heidi Montag Splits from Spencer Pratt; Did She Stifle the Dumb Blonde Jokes?

Heidi Montag has split from Spencer Pratt, as reported at People. The 23-year-old star of The Hills moved out of the Pacific Palisades, California home she shared with the fellow The Hills cast member who became her husband.

Heidi Montag can't seem to get much respect

It seems few people have great things to say about Heidi Montag. Since she became known for her work on the reality show The Hills, Montag has received so many plastic surgeries that she no longer looks like the same person. In addition, her dream to become a popular singer who sells lots of records has been dashed. Her debut album was a washout. "I put every dollar I have into this. I've spent over $1 million, almost $2 million, on this album. It's cost as much or more than a Britney Spears album because I wanted it to be that quality...The songs will make an impact in pop history," said Montag to Us Magazine. Yet Montag's album sold less than 1,000 copies in its first week, paling in comparison to Britney Spears' album Circus that, despite the problems Spears has had, sold over 500,000 copies in its first week.

"I had to get away from the lies my family and supposed friends are saying about me," says Montag. Spending time on herself includes spending time with roommate Jen Bunney who Heidi Montag will be shooting a reality TV show with. Will a new reality show help Heidi Montag?

What is clear is that her image since appearing on The Hills has deteriorated and being married to Spencer Pratt hasn't helped it. Speidi are considered the blonde duo who love publicity. They also love to make controversial statements. Their view that global warming never happend, that 9/11 was an inside job and other theories have hindered their already damaged images. While Spencer Pratt has plans to educated the world on a New World Order, Montag may do herself well to take an exit from that road. Carving a new road for herself without the other blonde half could be a good way for her to go. It's hard for a celebrity to gain respect if it was lost or never there. Without Pratt, Montag might have a chance, if even a slight one.
