Heidi Montag's Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Frank Ryan, Dies in Car Accident-Was Texting Involved?

Just One More Reason Not to Text and Drive

Oprah's been saying it all year long. And while there are conflicting reports regarding the car crash death of Dr. Frank Ryan, Hills star Heidi Montag's plastic surgeon, one thing is for sure: he posted to his Twitter account from his car just minutes before his fatal car crash on Monday.

According to People, Dr. Frank Ryan's jeep Wrangler careened off of the Pacific Coast Highway on Monday. Ryan was known as a celebrity plastic surgeon, performing work on Montag and rockers Gene Simmons and Vince Neil.

People later reported that Ryan's former girlfriend confirmed that his accident was caused by texting and driving. He had posted a Twitter message about hiking with his dog just before the accident. The dog survived the crash.

With all due respect to Mr. Ryan, Montag's mom, Darlene Egelhoff, looked like she may have wanted him dead after she saw her daughter for the first time after her 10 plastic surgeries last fall. But at only 50 years young, he was vibrant and full of life and his death is truly an untimely one. While many criticized the good doctor for performing 10 plastic surgeries on Montag in one day, he was also the surgeon that told her she was cut off from any more plastic surgeries.

Amidst the fluffy messages from friends like Jen Bunney and Karissa Shannon, Montag's Twitter today featured a Hills star in mourning. Montag posted that Ryan was "an angel" that changed her life. Montag also tweeted, "FYI Dr. Ryan never drank, never smoked, he's never done drugs this was something everyone knows about him. He was always on call 24/7."

Talk show host Oprah Winfrey launched a "No Phone Zone' campaign earlier this year, urging viewers not to use their cell phones in the car and to never text and drive. Dozens of Winfrey's celebrity friends took the "No Phone Zone" pledge, including actors Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Sandra Bullock and Morgan Freeman.

Apparently Dr. Ryan never got the message.

Horrible! What a sad but true reminder that we should always be paying 100% attention to drive. I still see tons of people using their phones.

What a waste. Hope the message was worth his life...

It's scary how many accidents (and deaths) there are due to texting. This is great coverage of a really sad story.
